2013 Winners: Able Muse Write Prize (for Poetry & Fiction)

I'm pleased to announce the contest winners as chosen anonymously by the final contest judges - Thaisa Frank (fiction), and Kelly Cherry (poetry)--

Congratulations to Donna Laemmlen, D.R. Goodman, Jeanne Wagner, Richard Wakefield and the finalists and which include several talented Eratosphereans!

Complete details here.

Cheers,
...Alex

congratulations to the winners, finalists and HMs.
I have never read any of Goodman's work but I look forward to reading it. Not only does her work win, but she takes 3 finalist positions and an HM.
As I recall the entry was 5 poems (I may be remembering incorrectly) which means every one of her poems was a winner.

Congratulations to all the winners, finalists, and HMs. I was hoping to see more Spherians among them, but at least there were several, and the tastes of judges will vary.

Congratulations to all. I look forward to reading great stuff. Special kudos to Susan De Sola, Martin Elster, Susan McLean, Richard Meyer, and Cyn Neeley (is that all the Sphereans?)--the presence of your names on the list bodes well for the quality of this work.

Congrats to everyone--I look forward to reading your poems, and to appearing in such wonderful company. I, too, was curious about D.R. Goodman's work after her spectacular showing here. So I tracked down her website, which includes a number of gems: http://www.drgoodmanpoetry.com/

Huge congrats to all! And thanks, Melissa, for this link, since I was also curious about D.R. Goodman. What a goldmine! There's a ton of her work there. A good poet.

Thanks for the link, Melissa. I didn't believe I knew D. R. Goodman's work either, but in going through the link it turns out that we both had a number of poems in the same Spring 2003 issue of the long gone and badly missed Cumberland Poetry Review. So we've rubbed iambs.

The pufferfish poem (Fugu), which is the last one in the link, is particularly wonderful. Anybody who clicks on the link should be sure to check that out.

How can we lure D.R. Goodman to the Sphere?

Cyn Neely 09-11-2013 04:07 PM

You should try to lure her Michael. Since you have rubbed iambs as you say.
I think it would be great for us to have her here.
