Hacker Wackos

Several of you'd have noticed the system has been down and unreachable for a few hours just before this post. Well, it was another hacker denial of service attack, this time, a pretty serious one. I'd been wrestling with it, and have only now successfully resolve the problem and stem the attack. Unfortunately, the damn hackers won't leave us alone! But, I'll go look some more into it and plug any security holes I uncover.

Cheers,
...Alex

Many thanks, Alex, for your vigilance and hard work. Even an intermittently lapsed Spherean like me really appreciates this community.

Best,
Jean

Your gatekeeping abilities evoke awe and gratitude!

I can (just about) understand hackers who target banks, insurance companies, the Defense Department, Microsoft, and all the other bad guys. But Eratosphere? There must be some seriously deranged poets prowling through the undergrowth.

Lance Levens 12-01-2013 02:04 PM

What can we say, Alex, about your skill and tenacity? Thanks and thanks again.

Seree Zohar 12-01-2013 02:24 PM

You're a Superhero, Alex! Thanks for saving us -- yet again -- from those who wish us no good.

(Why, oh why, can't people just be nice to one another?)

Let me join in with the others, and praise you for your diligence and hard work, Alex. Where would we be without the Sphere? And I agree with Brian; I am dumbfounded by these attacks. Why, oh why the Sphere? There's probably some hacker sneering at this comment right now.

Thank you, Alex, for your care and for all the hard work.

Good on yer, Alex! And thank you.

Catherine Chandler 12-02-2013 08:25 PM

It certainly seems more than pure coincidence that the Sphere is constantly being hacked.

Thank you, Alex, for taking care of the lowlife scum.

ChrisGeorge 12-02-2013 08:26 PM

Keep up the good work, Alex. The diabolical evil of mankind never stops astonishing me. :(

Chris

It's almost funny in a way, because in the digital on-line world, unless I miss my guess, what doesn't kill you (once it is mastered) actually does make one stronger.

Stay in fighting trim.

Alex Pepple 12-04-2013 08:13 PM

Thank you all for the kind words & support!

Cheers,
...Alex

Hacking is sort of mechanised graffiti and the hackers have a similar mind set, that of a stupid fourteen-year-old. The attacks on the Sphere are pure jealousy which eats up that sort of adolescent.
