Thanks, Michael. Do you have any more details?
(Posted here to bump up the thread for visibility--more folks check General Talk than General Announcements--but perhaps further details could be posted there.) |
Yes, it's a very slick email that looks very much like a request from Alex. It asks for personal information so that you can access "essential information I want to share" or something like that.
It looks specifically targeted to Eratosphere, not a general phishing scam, and it is very well-done. |
Thanks, Michael.

I assume Alex is alerted about this.
Bump. |
Michael,
I'd be interested in seeing this. Can you forward a copy to wlantry@gmail.com? I have concerns about how they may have built the list, and I haven't received the message. Thanks, Bill |
I alerted Alex but have not heard from him. I forwarded him a copy and deleted mine.

Mike showed me the phishing email, and it's a rather known phishing/scam/virus that's been circulating in the web for a while and is known to infiltrate your address book and send out phishing emails to your friends. The scam email will look something like this -- so, if you see anything that looks like that, don't click anything, simply delete it. And there's some concussion on this at this blog.
Cheers, ...Alex |
