Thanks for that, Janice.

Janice, our eloquent conscience.

Good one, Janice. An eloquent jeremiad that hits the mark.
Best, Ed |
Thank you, Janice, from me too. This needs to be said.

Janice this is an important witness piece.
Nice work. Eileen |
Thanks, Janice. The sorrowful state of the US.
Typo on "1986"? It was 1989. |
The Iran-Contra was 1986, and a rearrangement of my lines messed up the Wall reference.
There are always readers smarter than writers. I could/should have written: That was way back in the eighties, Sandinista, Khomeini, arms for hostages, Which I will do if I ever include it in a collection of political verse. Which I would like to do, but there isn't a great outcry for that. |
Strong piece, Janice. Congratulations!

Powerful, Janice!!! I'm crying out for a book of political poetry! What made that not work was the tendency toward propagandizing. You've proven here it can be done. So many grievances, so few voices...

One of the nice things about NVN is that the editor is usually open to belated changes. If you'd like to tweak a line, ask him.

When I saw the title of your poem (few days ago), Janice, I googled and found news about Sandra Bland, as well as videos of the traffic stop that got out of control. One of numerous nightmarish incidents that have taken place in this land of late.
Excellent poem! |
Since this is bumped up now, I'll just say many thanks to all who have commented. Warms the cockles of me heart that it got response.
