Chris O’Carroll is featured poet in the new Light
Oh, another delightful issue of Light and how wonderful to see Chris O’Carroll as the featured poet. He is one of my favorite light verse writers, but alongside him you'll find many other favorites--really just too numerous to name and Spherians are overwhelmingly represented.
Special congratulations to Chris, but kudos to all of you. And to the editors. |
YEA for our Clever Chris! And Janice's Stepsister poem is a glorious hoot! And there's so much more . . . I'm thrilled that my heart surgery meditations are in there alongside the work of so many luminaries!
|
I was so delighted to see that it was Chris! This is a truly well deserved honor!
|
Yes, it is about time that Chris was featured poet at Light. The rest of the issue is also a delight, and I was particularly chuckling at the tailgaters.

Congratulations to the Light Brigade on a great issue and to Chris O’Carroll. Not only were many of his gems on display in the featured poet section and Bill Greenwell’s article, but his Dickinson tailgater doubled me up.
Good also to see Terese Coe’s waterfords (though, darn it, there goes a LUPO comp) and A. E. Stallings giving Housman some welly (though darn it . . .) as well as a wealth of other wicked wit from contributors old and new. |
Thank you for posting this announcement, Janice. And thanks Jean, Gail, Susan, and Jerome for the kind words. Naturally, I'm jazzed about being initiated into a company of which Julie Kane, Susan McLean, Gail White, John Whitworth, Melissa Balmain, and A.E. Stallings, among other luminaries, are members. (Melissa was the feature back in 2007, well before she assumed the editorship.) And I know I've made my family proud, since my 89-year-old father insists on telling everyone that I'm the magazine's "centerfold."

Just read the entire issue. Wonderful! And Chris, congratulations on being the featured poet! :)
|
Hurrah! I turned straight to the centrefold, and enjoyed both Chris's poems and Bill's accompanying article. Looking forward to the rest.
|
Good show, Chris! As I told you by email, you have leapt overnight from being what you describe as "a virtually unknown poet" to a virtually unknown celebrity.
|
May I add my congratulations, Chris. Do you take off your clothes?
|
Congrats, Chris, and all Eratospherians in the issue. It was a pleasure being there with all of you. Best, Paul.
|
Fantastic poems and "centerfold," Chris! It totally brightened my day! Huge well-deserved congrats to you!! Also congrats to all the fine contributors to this enjoyable issue.

I'm late coming to this, having intended to finish reading the whole issue of Light first, which I still haven't managed to do... so there's still more pleasure to look forward to.
Congratulations, Chris, on being featured poet. I've laughed such a lot at your witty, funny poems. Jayne |

Kudos, Chris! If only there were videos of you reading~~those who haven't seen you perform are missing a lot!
Sam, John Whitty, Alicia, Brian Allgar, David Y., Jerome, and all the rest: congratulations to you all! Melissa has done a terrific job of marshaling comedic resources. Thanks to Jerome Betts for the mention as well! Sweet comment. |
