On erato, only six can be posted, so I am using my blog. Comments can be added to each, such as names or conversations. Somebody let me know if the links work. TJ |
The link works, Tom. Great shots! Thanks very much.
(Wise-ass comments to follow.) |
Very nice photographs, but am I missing the part that tells me who everyone is?
I've met some and can guess at some others, but there are mystery people I'd love to be able to match with a name. |
Tom -
I recognize most, but not all. I'll PM you the names I'm sure of, you can add those, and I'm sure others will fill in the rest. |
I enjoyed the photos, Tom!
"The Drawing" interests me as well; the colors remind me of Toulouse Lautrec. I recognize most of the folks, but no time to fill in names right now. Thanks for posting them. |
Names?
|
Janet, yes, the people who they are?
|
I will try to get to names and comments later as well.
I just put the pictures up as fast as possible. More pictures later today. |
Okay, until Tom does his thang, this will have to do. Apologies to all those I did not recognize:
From the top - 1 - Tom Cable 2 - Amy Brubaker 3 - I think that's Brian Dowling, but I'm not absolutely certain 4 - Alfred Dorn 5 - Tony Barnstone, Bill Baer, Rhina Espaillat 6 - Jennifer Reeser 7 - Alfred Nichol 8 - Deborah Warren 9 - Michael Idiot and Midge Goldberg (Powow) 10 - That's Bob Crawford in the blue shirt, facing the camera, left of center. 11 - Jeff Holt. Don Kimball in the right foreground 12 - Don't know 13 - Don't know 14 - Only know Dana for sure. Kimberly-no-name-tag-ever on the left. 15 - Kevin Walzer 16 - Kim Adonizzio 17 - David Yezzi? 18 - Tim Steele 19 - Robert Cumming 20 - Rhina 21 - Leslie Monsour 22 - Yolanda Cruz and Albert Geiser 23 - Don't know 24 - Only recognize Rhina 25 - The Table Setting of the Unknown Poet 26 - Boris Timoshenko, Deputy Assistant Interrogator, NKVD. Steve Schroeder at the right. 27 - Sam Gwynn 28 - Don't know 29 - Susan McLean 30 - Kate Light and Dick Davis |
It's very good to be able to visualise those with whom I exchange ideas. What an interesting and handsome collection you all are. Some I knew already. Rhina would be reconisable in any circumstances.
I think you should be flattered to be watched by Boris Timoshenko, Deputy Assistant Interrogator, NKVD. It means your poetry is relevant. Many thanks Tom for posting the photos and Michael for identifying the participants. Janet |
Isn't that Dave Mason on the left in 28?
Carol |
23-That's Mark Jarman in the middle.
Edited to add: only the side of my face? Wow... I'm surprised I managed to get away without being in at least one photo. ------------------ Steve Schroeder [This message has been edited by Steven Schroeder (edited June 18, 2005).] |
More photos added and most names attached. I did not get any pictures of breakfast, or pictures of the dorm. I did not take pictures at the two party/gatherings. If anyone wants a copy of any picture let me know and I can mail you for free a cd of the picture and then you can put it in your computer and print copies on photo paper. The pictures on cd will be high image quality, 5 megs. The pictures on the blog do not have full resolution. I hope the pictures give an idea of what the conference looks like for those who missed it or who have not been. There will be a couple follow up pictures on general here. TJ |
Many thanks for these, Tom. Dana (peace be upon him) is to the left of Annie Finch in that photo between the two women. She's the one in the straw hat and pink jacket. A remarkable and unforgettable woman. It's dark, but I'm pretty sure that's also Annie in the lounge photo (between those of Michael Cantor and Kate), speaking with the two men on the sofas. Annie is also the one speaking with Dana in the library photo, on the front row. Poems of Annie's and Emily Dickinson's, also, were set to music for that evening's entertainment.
The pewter-tressed lady in olive with her back to the camera in the Dave Mason photo is (I believe) Anne Stevenson, the keynote speaker on Wednesday night. Lori Jareo and Frederick Turner are the other two figures in that photo of Kevin Walzer on the grounds. |
The other person in the photo with Dana and Annie Finch (wearing the straw hat) is Kimberley Taylor.
In the lounge photo with Annie Finch she's talking to Steven Schneider and David Caplan. The young guy with David Anthony is Justin Sider. |
Tom - Thanks for putting up the photos. Nice shots.
|
Yes, Tom, I forgot to say thanks. I enjoyed these a lot,
Gregory |
The person in Michael's number 3 is Gregory Dowling.
In the photo of three women at the table (below Kevin Walzer, Lori Jareo, and Frederick Turner near the canopy), the woman wearing a pink sweater is Jennifer Goodrich. |
Thanks Tom, it's great to have a picture to go with the name. And now, (drum roll please) with typical Las Vegas flashy arrogance:
http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_ho...g/1914390.html (I'm way at the bottom, with, of course, the omnipresent quad cane) Robert Meyer |
Terrific shots. Thanks so much. Dee
|
Way cool, Tom! But Sam Gwynn's name is spelled wrong in the second picture, where he's talking to Lyle Shaw.
|
yes, very cool! I didn't know anyone's face so this is nice in a voyeuristic kind of way ... so many white beards, so many smiles and strong teeth. thanks to the photographer(s).
|
Thanks for posting these!
The woman at the podium in #2 is Nancy Willard. The woman in the picture following Michael & Midge is Carrie Jerrell. The woman in the picture with Rhina and "I don't know" is Sandy Van Doren. |
Wonderful photos, Tom, and many thanks for posting them. Those of us who missed the conference (and especially those whose teaching schedules make it a pretty sure thing that they'll always miss it) thank you doubly.
Richard |
Thanks for the great photos, Tom. They make me feel almost as if I'd been there.
|
Micheal C.- You were smiling all the time at the conference, and I had a pleasant conversation with you near the end, but somehow Tom captured you grim faced confirming your Erato image. |
I guess Tom caught me at a revealing moment - Steve Schroeder and I were discussing the constant battle to upgrade the level of the poetry, the criticism, and the receptivity to criticism on Non-Met.
[This message has been edited by Michael Cantor (edited June 20, 2005).] |
Michael- Deflecting everything back to Non-Met. So Cantoresque! I bet you paid for Tom's room at the Holiday Inn just so Tom wouldn't get a candid shot of you. |
Check your PMs, Albert. Let's not hijack the thread.
|
Thanks, Tom. Here are some of the pictures I took at West Chester.

Dear Tom
Thanks for these photos. As one who had hoped to attend but could not (because of a very joyful family wedding), it was good to see them. They brought back pleasant memories of 2003. Kind regards to all! Clive |
Thanks for the great pix, Tom. I added a couple of names in the Blog comments.
|
Rose, your photos are excellent, you have them to the life, and you were so unobtrusive we mostly had no idea you were there taking them.
(I took a couple of sneaky ones of you looking Mata Hari-esque, but would not dream of harming your devil-may-care image by posting them.) David |
Some more names: in the photo captioned "Discussions around the dinner table. . .," the three people facing the camera from left to right are me, Nancy Willard, and Nancy's husband Eric Lindbloom, and that's Bruce Bennett with his face cut off to the far right. It was wonderful meeting so many of you in person, after admiring your poems from afar!
|
Rose, I too thought yours were exceptional! They make the whole thing real for me.
KEB |
Rose,
You so-and-so ;) I left the blue period ages ago after Pinocchio left home. I'm more sporty these days. Funneeeeeee Janet |
Thanks for the pictures.
I am moving the link to a more permanent location on my website. The blog location will still remain for a few weeks. Notes and suggestions still being taken. link needs to be, uh, linked. Later. TJ [This message has been edited by Tom Jardine (edited June 27, 2005).] |
