Eratosphere Administrator Announcement
Dear Eratosphereans,
She’s been active at various stages and levels of Eratospheredom, and it's a fitting time for her to climb to the well-earned top rung as our very own, brand new Eratosphere Administrator. If you're still wondering who--she is ... drum rolls!!! ... Jayne Osborn. Jayne Osborn, a retired secondary school teacher, has taught Math and Creative Writing in a men’s prison. Her work has appeared in many magazines and anthologies. She regularly wins prizes for poetry in UK publications such as The Spectator and The Oldie and Literary Review, and she has also won six awards from The National Association of Writers’ Groups. She has judged numerous poetry competitions and is best known for her humorous poems, which she has been reading to audiences for the past fifteen years.Jayne has been an asset to the Sphere and, generous with her time, skills and intellect. I urge everyone to lend her your support to make writing, reading and surfing at the Sphere an even more stimulating and productive experience. Join me in giving a big Eratosphere welcome and congratulations to Jayne! Cheers, ...Alex |
It's not very often that I'm at a loss for words (ask my husband!) but this came as a very big surprise.
Now that I've recovered from the shock I want to thank you, Alex, for giving me this honour; I'm delighted, and will continue to do what I can for the good of the Sphere, from my side of The Pond. Jayne |
Congrats, Jayne.
|
Great news! :)
|
Congratulations Jayne!
I'd like to thank you (publicly and embarrassingly) for how friendly and helpful you've been since I joined the Sphere. Sincere thanks. Mark |
Congratulations Jayne! And thanks for taking on this responsibility.
"Administrators are the people who have overall control of everything that happens on the board." I hope that absolute power does not corrupt you :) Matt |
Congratulations Jayne I hope this isn't going to change my Friend and Mentor in any way! I'm sure Alex has chosen the right person for the job. :D
|
Hooray, Jayne!
|
Congrats and good luck, Jayne. And thanks.
|
Congratulations! I'm sure your experience teaching in a men's prison will come in handy here.
|
Congratulations and well deserved, Jayne!
|
I’m pleased to hear this, Jayne. Congratulations!
|
Congrats, Jayne. In recognition, I'm really going to work hard at spelling your name correctly.
|
A big thank you Mike, Cathy, Mark, Matt, Dave, Mary, Maryann, Bob, Terese, Martin and Michael for all your kind comments.
Bob, the prison inmates were far better behaved than one or two of the miscreants here. And I don't intend to change now, Matt and Dave; I'm afraid you're stuck with me as I am. Michael, I shall edit anyone's posts if I see my name spelled as Jane. Oh, the power . . . I feel very honoured to be But seriously, it's a pleasure to be involved to an even greater extent and I'll do my best. Jayne |
Congratulations, Jayne! And it was a pleasure to see you at the conference this past summer.
|
Jayne,
The position's duties are, once again, in very capable hands. I'm glad you accepted. (Well done, Alex.) Mark |
Good for you, Jayne.
|
Wonderful news! Couldn't happen to a better Jayne!
|
Roses are red, violets are blue
and here's a smilie, just for... Jayne ;) |
Thanks, Jayne, for taking this on. You are a valued member of the Eratosphere community.
Susan |
A worthy successor to Carol Taylor and Maryann Corbett, predecessors in what is surely a mostly thankless, but needed, job. Since Maryann stepped down, there has been something missing—it’s good to have it back.
|
Huge congrats, Jayne!!! Can't think of a finer more deserving patient balanced thoughtful generally all around good person for the post!
|
I'm overwhelmed once more by your responses.
Thank you so much Claudia, Mark, John, Shaun, Annie, Susan, Alder and Siham. Your messages of support mean a great deal to me. All the best to everyone, Jayne |
Congratulations, Jayne!
This should liven things up a bit ... ! |
Many congratulations, Jayne. We couldn't be in better hands!
|
Thank you, Wendy and Gregory.
I hope I can live up to expectations . . . ! Jayne |
Jayne,
My congratulations, too! And thanks for assuming the responsibility. |
I just now saw this, Jayne, so please accept my belated congratulations & 3 cheers!!
|
Michael and Gail,
Thank you both for the kind words. Much appreciated! :) Jayne |
I reserve my permanent congratulations until Jayne fills out my questionnaire about how she would have handled the 82 most notorious board brouhahas. But as I have little doubt she would have administered the situations perfectly, I tentatively offer my whole-hearted support for the choice.
|
Bugsy,
Thank you for the vote of confidence. We're a spirited bunch so I don't doubt the brouhahas will continue to occur from time to time. I'm bowled over that you've kept a tally of the best (or is that the worst?) of them! :D Jayne |
Ooooh, eight gold stars, Jayne! What a good girl you must have been!
|
Brian,
At school I'd have been bullied and called "Teacher's Pet'' for being such a good girl. ;) Jayne |
But eight stars! You great big beautiful doll.
|
Jayne, congratulations. About time for the other side of the Pond to run things.
|
Congratulations, Jayne! :D
|
John, Tim and Graham,
Sorry, I meant to say Thank You to all of you before now. It's a nice job . . . and the boss is great! :) Jayne |
Wow, Jayne, I only just saw this!!! Sorry to be be so late. Massive congratulations. You'll do (are doing!) an amazing job.
Charlotte |
Belated congratulations to you, Jayne!
You were the first one to welcome me as a full member to this sphere not long ago and you did it with such warmth. It's a warm place... |
Wonderful news, Jayne! Most deserving too. You certainly brightened some of my darker days, so triple cheers and a toast to the best!!!
