Reading in America
G'day, All!
Very very soon I'll be back in America for a few months. This means David Mason and I have been invited to do a few readings. This is a rare thing for me, reading, and will also be the last opportunity to meet or re-meet some of you, as it's unlikely I'll come to America again after this particular sojourn, SO . . . If you're in the vicinity of the Newburyport Public Library at 3pm on October 12, we'd love to see you! We'll also be reading in Amherst at Amherst Books on October 14. I think they'll have times on their site in October. After that, I'll be reading to the cows, frogs and stars from Nemo's front porch. I've never seen New England in the autumn, so I'm excited!! Yes. You are coming to the Powwows. I'm very excited to hear you read and meet you and David, as I love both of your poetry.
Are you coming to the workshop? |
Thank you, Andrew! I look forward to it, too!
We're finalising travel plans now, so I hope we'll be at the workshop. How exciting! Cally |
Enjoy every second Cally.
There in spirit, as always... |
Fabulous news, Calligraphy!! Wish I could be there...can’t go out & about, too much going on where I am. It would be so amazing!! ————->
|
Have a wonderful time, Cally! I'm booked on the same spirit plane as Mark.
|
Matt -- I'm at Melbourne Airport right now, preparing to board a very material plane! I hate this bit . . . . sitting in a tin can 30,000 feet up for 16 hours. Would that there were a spirit plane to the USA!
Sharkey, Arrow, Matt -- I'll place you in the front row of the rooms where we'll be reading, and give you lots of spirit winks!!! |
Good news, Cally! Hope you are making a stop in nyc too!
Will you be here on Wed., Oct. 23? My play, Harry Smith at the Chelsea Hotel (black comedy, biographical) will have a reading with Equity Actors on Oct 23 at 7:30 pm at Dixon Place, 161A Chrystie St. (between Rivington and Delancey). Free admission, and reservations can be made by going here and then to "Tickets": hope you can make it! http://dixonplace.org/performances/h...el-10-23-2019/ Everyone at Eratosphere is invited! Since there is seating for 45 or so, reservations are recommended. There's also a bar with a view of the stage and sro, of course. Dixon Place asks that people come at 7 and buy a beverage to help support the theater! Caveat: language, so no children under 16 please. Best, Terese |
Oh Cally, I wish I could have seen you both when I visited Newburyport 10/4-5. Faulty timing on my part. Is there any chance you’ll get to the Washington DC area?
Claudia |
Thanks, Terese and Claudia!
But no, we won't be reading in NY or DC, and I'm sorry you couldn't be at Newburyport, Claudia. We had a marvellous time there, attending the Powow workshop, and the reading afterwards was so much fun. I want to thank any Powows reading here for looking after us so beautifully. It was so moving to see people again -- Wicked Rhina, Man-without-a-nickname (AKA Michael Cantor), and finally meeting my Salt (Jean Kreiling), and Andrew Szilvasy. Newburyport is a beautiful place. And thanks, too, to Chris O'Carrol for attending the Amherst Bookshop Reading! It was incredible for me to be reading there, with Emily only a short walk away. And finally, perhaps the best audience I could ever ask for: Nemo's real cows, with a bevy of chooks and a rooster thrown in. My thanks to all who made this so memorable for me. And of course to all the trees of New England for all their crazy coloured leaves! C |
Cally,
It was wonderful to meet you! You and David were stunning in your reading. I'd read "A Game of Chess" before and liked it, but your performance nearly brought the audience to tears and earned a just ovation. |
Why, thank you, Andrew! I'm very moved to hear it.
The audience was terrific, I must say. Quite a crowd, and really into it. The room felt so good. I enjoyed the open mic, too. Well run. Everything was such a rush afterwards that I didn't get to give you a hug goodbye! So take a hug now. ((( ))) It was a pleasure to see your face! C |
Yes. I saw you with Jean and didn't want to butt in, but had to run. It was such a pleasure to meet you.
