James Wilk 09-02-2008 06:16 AM

Let it be known that I--Jim "Your Psychic Hotline" Wilk--made the following prediction at 5:30 a.m. MDT on Sept. 2:

Sometime before Thursday night, Sarah Palin will decline the VP nomination citing that "with a Down's syndrome baby and a new grandchild on the way" she "wants to spend more time with family."

Mitt, Kay and Joe better get ready for the phone call--it's coming within 48 hours.

Janice D. Soderling 09-02-2008 06:30 AM

I already predicted that earlier in this thread and got laughed off-stage.

Maybe we can form a Cassandra Club, Jim.

James Wilk 09-02-2008 06:34 AM

Well, at least I believe you. My reasoning is this:

McCain has painted himself into the corner and can't get out unless Sarah Palin steps down.

If he dumps Palin, it shows that he made a hasty, poorly thought out decision without a proper level of investigation for purely political reasons to appease the right wing and to try to grab disaffected Hillary supporters. That won't look good at all come November.

If he keeps Palin, he demonstrates that it's party before country, that he won't change course in the face of mounting evidence that an error in judgement was made, that appearance trumps substance. This won't look good come November.

The only way out is for Sarah Palin to "willfully" step down before the convention is over.

Tim Murphy 09-02-2008 06:37 AM

Wishful thinking. She will be the first woman vice president of the United States. Her performance will make her likely to be elected to the presidency, another first.

James Wilk 09-02-2008 06:42 AM

Am I the only one here who thinks this is an embarrassment to America? One heartbeat away, ladies and gentlemen, one heartbeat away...

Michael Cantor 09-02-2008 06:48 AM

I've been hoping the same - not because it would make the Republican ticket any more or less appealing, but because there always is the outside chance that McCain wins. And he's 72 years old. And then we have unprepared, unqualified, unknown, untested, inexperienced, unworldly - but Right and Religious - Sarah Paulin in the world's most important job. I cannot believe the impetuous irresponsibility of the man! And I agree with James' analysis. And his embarassment. What an effing disgrace!

The Grand Old Party goes zany! "Do you feel lucky...well do ya, punk?" "I said: Everyone out of the pool!" "Who wants hot lead?" "Do these come in pink?" "Is that an automatic, John?"

This is what happens when the famed pendulum has swung. It's so similar to what the Democrats went through in the 70's--Eagleton, Billy Carter, the stripper who took a dip in the reservoir, the Democratic wife in Playboy, etc.

Tim, when does moose season start in Alaska? You'll have a chance to meet her then.

Bruce Henderson 09-02-2008 07:16 AM

I always like it when psychics predict events before they happen, rather than saying they knew it was going to happen after the event. Let's wait and see.

Looking at her pic I'm thinking.. hmm.. why her for the VP pick? Was Daisy Duke unavailable?

And you're ok with that, Tim?

For the love of me, I can't understand why.

Are you aware that when she first took office in Wasilla one of her first acts was to contact the local librarian and ask about how one went about banning certain books for "bad language?"

And that the church she worships in each Sunday tends to offer programs which offer to "help people overcome their homosexuality."

Please, Tim, tell me how you do not find this woman at least somewhat threatening, if not downright creepy.

Anne Bryant-Hamon 09-02-2008 08:22 AM

Jim,

You might be right. Is that a real un-doctored photograph of Palin by the pool? Seriously? If so, yes, I find it embarrassing - reminds me of Lindy England.

It is scary enough to think of McCain winning. Worse to think of her being V.P. should that happen. Has nothing to do with gender.

I'm praying that God will avenge a lot of abused people by letting Obama win the election and seeing Carl Rove frog marched before congress and sent to jail. I can't think of anything I'd enjoy more than that at the moment.

However, even though you might be right, I have a slight feeling that Palin is in the race to stay. Just think, she even has some gays backing her! Hard to understand!

Michael Cantor 09-02-2008 08:38 AM

I never thought I'd feel sympathy for Cindy McCain, but the frozen look on her face in this photo says it all:

I think she'll stick. I predict that in this election, Rove will pit anti-intellectuals against eggheads.

Damn. It just about turned Tim!

John Whitworth 09-03-2008 01:40 AM

know this is none of my business but I have recently seen plenty of photographs of Prime Minister Putin without many clothes on and toting a variety of guns. Are guns and semi-nudity OK for blokes but not for... ? Oh, and the thing's a fake after all. I THOUGHT it had to be but itbeinf the USA, you know..

Chris van der Walt 09-03-2008 03:31 AM

At least she's wearing a hm...conservative bikini. I suppose a G-string would have had to cut out too many stars and in the process, alienate a few states.

Anyway, I suppose she is running for vice president and after all, someone has to take charge of America's vices.

Robert Meyer 09-03-2008 04:20 PM

To be serious a moment, why the hell didn't McCain choose Rice instead?!?! She's black, she's a woman, she has experience dealing with world leaders, she is fundamentally conservative (in the "pull yourself up" way), and has a brain. While I don't agree with her philosophy, she would make the GOP ticket competitive. The worst you could say is she has no taste in rock (a KISS fan, yuck!). But to pass on Rice in favor of Palin is just plain stupid, and calls into question McCain's would be leadership.

She was smart enough to turn him down. Just say "no" works for other things, too.
