Find an artwork that is in the public domain (if the artist has been dead for 70 years it is in the public domain) and do some digital wizardry with it. If anyone needs help posting images there are complete destructions on the main page of the art forum.

"How come I never get invited to that kind of party?"

Jerry, that one's a wonder! Hee-hee. Sharon, I don't know if you had levity in mind but some of us just can't contain ourselves ....

Marion Shore 05-19-2006 02:34 PM

Jerry,

So that's what the poor guy's thinking! And he's dressed for those parties too!

Kate,
yours is hysterical!
Ann-Margret? Wild!

My attachment is too big... how do I make it smaller to share my masterpiece?

Sharon Passmore 05-20-2006 10:35 PM

Orwin, in the program you used to create it, save a copy and go to "resize" it's probably in a menu called "image"

Nude Descending a Banana

Jerry Glenn Hartwig 05-21-2006 07:34 PM

Huh.

Either it's been so long since I've seen a nude woman that I've forgotten what they look like, or my computer monitor's on the fritz. Of course, you didn't specify a nude what.

The banana looks normal, though.

Rose Kelleher 05-21-2006 09:40 PM

Duchamp's "Fountain"

omg... get it? It's like more ornamental than the real one... isn't that funny? Isn't it hilarious? Or maybe I just couldn't figure out how to post my actual one.

Sharon Passmore 05-25-2006 02:43 PM

Orwn, there are complete instructions about posting images in the Art forum's memo. It's on the first page of the forum.

R E Bolick 05-26-2006 07:07 AM

Hi, folks --

Also be sure that if the artwork is European, the copyright wasn't renewed (the EU version of our Copyright Extension Term Act did that, ours didn't). Also, if the author or estate incorporated, the period is 95 years from death. And last, be sure to check that the "image" you're using hasn't been copyrighted (how Corbis and the Bettmann Archives make their money).

On the other hand, parody is "almost" always fair use. If Disney weren't so aggressive, I'd take a clip of Pinocchio and substitute Sonny Bono's face behind the nose. http://www.ablemuse.com/erato/ubbhtml/biggrin.gif

Cheers,
BobB
