Free-for-all at the Translation Board
I posted a loose translation of a Happy New Year poem on the Translation Board, here. Feel free to post your own versions of it, if you like. It's eight lines of French octosyllabe, which I turned into ballad meter, but it could just as well be turned into a pair of limericks. Come on over and take a stab.

A Good New Year
A good New Year to everything, The seas, the trees, the world. A good New Year to stuff in spring That Winter keeps tight furled. A good New Year to young and old. I greet you with delight. Both those who think I’m solid gold And those who think I’m shite. |
