new focus on form at this summers Frost Place Seminar

The 2020 FROST PLACE POETRY SEMINAR will take place via Zoom Aug 2 – 7, 10:00 am -9:00 pm EST, with morning lectures, evening readings, and afternoon workshops led by Patrick Donnelly, Patricia Smith, and Rebecca Foust, heading up a new track—“FREEDOM AND FORM”— to explore exciting new uses of form by contemporary poets like Terrance Hayes, Victoria Chang, Natalie Diaz, Rhina Espaillat, and AE Stallings.

We’ll miss the setting and inspiration of Robert Frost’s Franconia NH farmhouse, but you’ll still get to work with world-class faculty in small groups, where the goal is always to make our poems the best they can be and to foster a real sense of community while we are doing it.

This is good news. I will want to apply. What other such online US meetings are going to take place that I might have missed for one reason or another? A West Chester? Poetry by the Sea? We could set up a new thread, or just use this one. What about international or trans-oceanic possibilities (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, Alaska, and naturally, the UK and Ireland)? Maybe a new thread wholly devoted to online conferences, including this one? Moderators?

This link will bring you up to date on Poetry by the Sea. Canceled for this year, scheduled to resume in 2021.
