I hope you find a way home, Maryann. Sorry the bus trip was cancelled.

The event was a success. It had a small but appreciative audience at the public library and more than twice as many attendees at the university. Both conversations/readings were taped and will eventually be posted with links. Though there was a lot of overlap in the two events, both poets read a somewhat different mix of poems at both events, and their responses to the questions were not always the same, too.

Maryann was unpleasantly surprised that her bus trip back to Minneapolis was canceled unexpectedly, but she should be able to get home tomorrow, and meanwhile I have been glad to have her staying with me. Both poets came to my poetry workshop yesterday, and Maryann was able to talk to an Introduction to Creative Writing class this morning because she was staying longer. It is great for our students to hear contemporary poets talk about their approaches and read their work.

Many thanks to Susan, to Marianne Murphy Zarzana, and to the SMSU faculty and staff for making me so welcome, and to Athena Kildegaard for being a great poetic sparring partner.

It took three buses and seven and a half hours, but I'm home!

Wow, I am sorry to hear that it was such a long trip, but glad to hear you made it back home safely. Rest up before your next trip. It was great to see you.

Susan
