Robert Graves Poetry Prize
I hope, given my very sporadic posting at Eratosphere in recent times, that there will not be an objection to this notice. I have just learned that a poem of mine, “Mirror, Mirror”, has won the 2018 Robert Graves Poetry Prize. The prize is offered by the Roehampton Poetry Centre, Roehampton University, London, in conjunction with the Wimbledon Bookfest to honour the poet, novelist and critic, Robert Graves. The judges were the poet David Harsent and the literary agent Peter Straus. My poem will appear in the near future in Roehampton Poetry Centre’s magazine, Poem. (Another of my poems was also included in the short-list.) The news is also announced at the website of the Waywiser Press, which publishes my two full collections (https://waywiser-press.com/category/news/).

I'm absolutely delighted to hear this news, Clive.
And a prize of £1,000 is a marvellous testament to your poetic skill. Massive congratulations! Jayne |
Congrats, Clive. Always good to hear from you again, particularly with that kind of news.

Thanks to everyone. This came as a delightful surprise. I thought it was long past and had forgotten about it. I rarely send things out these days, which only added to the surprise.
It's good, by the way, to see from this section of Eratosphere how many of those who post here have been having their own successes. Congratulations to one and all! Clive Watkins |
Congratulations, Clive. Good to see two of your poems receiving honors!
Please let us know where to read them when that's possible. |
