Not sure where to post this...

I did the drawings then the poem. Not sure if this is the right place to post the two together...

Icarus

My brother taunted,
Icarus!
When I took loft.

Soft veils
embraced me.
Unlike a bridled steed
or tethered kite,
I soared.

Icarus!
The haunted memory
jeers.

Advancing with age,
my wings tatter,
the dreams fade.

Would life have been different
Without these
chimeras of thought?

This is fine, Steve, it's nice to see it all together. I will be back later to comment when I don't have kids up in my face.

I like the sequencing and style.
I think the trick is to write the poem and do the picture at the same sitting, as a discipline. I think that's what the Asian masters did, although I don't know, just my guess.
It's a terrific field to work in, lots of potential to take it in a myriad of directions.
all the best

Hi Steve,
I love your winged beings although I do not fully understand the first one which seems to be a page of a book with wings drawn on an existing figure. Does this have some significance?

What I would like to see is the images alongside the corresponding stanza, or even the text and images integrated.

The code to place an image in your thread is very simple. Simply type in the URL between image tags. (ignore my asterisks - if i didn't put the asterisks the computer would try to obey the code and then it wouldn't show up at all.)

[*img]*URL goes here*[/*img]

For example:
http://www.ablemuse.com/erato/attach...3&d=1398184458

You can go into edit on this post of mine and see it in action.

The images show up at actual size - so If you would like them smaller, I'm afraid that would mean making a smaller version and uploading the whole business again, a pain, I know, but at this size it would separate the stanzas so much it would wreck the flow.

Sharon...

Is there a way to post images if you don't have url for the image??? The first "mock up" in the series was an "ideation." I took a reprint drew and wings on it to see what it would look like. I came across it while looking through old drawings. I decided to riff of it. The series then developed. Thanks for your comments!

You need a URL, but as soon as you upload it to Erato it has one. Click one of your thumbnails open...right click...and the menu has "copy image URL."
