Is it possible to block the headline demanding money?

It's a request, not a demand. There is no imperative to support Alex, although a lot of us do from time to time, as it seems only fair; Alex does all the work and we get all the benefit!

Only Alex can remove the notice, but it's not doing any harm, in my opinion, to remind members that voluntary contributions are very welcome.

It only shows up intermittently, and it's easy enough to scroll down the page and skip it. Be glad Alex doesn't support the site with ads and pop-ups.

It appears when I open the page for the first time and is not apparent thereafter unless I fire up the computer again. I don't mind. It's like the message from the Guardian that comes at the end of a visit. I know I've done what I can and will do so again when I am able. I look on it as I do that little loggy-onny tune; I feel like saying "Hello, Alex" when it greets me.

The only danger is that familiarity might cause it to be overlooked. Let's not.
