Pleasing recognition

I'm pleased to announce that my 2018 collection Windshift has been recognized as one of three finalists for the 2019 Thorpe Menn Award for Literary Excellence from the KC Chapter of the AAUW. This is the 41st year of the award honoring a respected book critic at the Kansas City Star, from back in the day when the local newspaper actually had cultural content. Top award went to Robert Sommer for a book of essays about his son's return from deployments in Iraq and Afganistan. Other finalist: Pat Daneman for her poetry collection After All.

Pat used to be my "boss" at Hallmark. I'm guessing neither of us was entirely accountable for the workday time we spent in our respective cubicles.:D

Congratulations, Barbara. I enjoyed reading Windshift, so I glad to see it getting some recognition.

Barbara, Last week I visited your poetry website. I enjoyed reading your bio and the "Becoming Transparent" poem. Congratulations on the recognition for Windshift !
