Highlarious!

TradCaths are weirdos, like Proud Boys, except they routinely get beaten up for their lunch money.

And take a look at the author--this is a face that wins the award for "Most Likely to Get Arrested for Indecent Exposure at a Petting Zoo"!

The Stupid gets bigger in that joint.
And the comment section...the self-loathing-secret-porn-consumer association gathers for its annual bracing

"Conservatives have long gained satisfaction from watching the awkwardness that ensues when feminists are asked about porn.
. . . If the Playboy legacy is one that embarrasses or frustrates feminists, fine. But I submit that we cannot celebrate it, because porn is even worse than feminism."

I wonder if the author has any idea how much he's revealing there.

I mean, he’s right that pornography, which is mostly bad, is worse than feminism, which is unreservedly good. He missed the opportunity to note that Christianity is worse than either, though perhaps that was the meta-point of his article, in which case, kudos.

Isn't pornography just human sexuality, in all its forms? Like in all aspects of human behaviour, some forms of human sexuality are bad, but does that leads us to call for a complete ban on human sexuality?

Erik Olson 10-23-2017 05:42 PM

Much of the anti-pornography movement is indeed politicised and hysterical, distracting and dubious. It will be observed, however, that if one moves beyond the framing of the issue as conservative versus liberal and other noise, that scientific studies on the effects of pornography on the brain yield genuine cause for concern. For instance, the following prominent study:
Kühn, S., Gallinat, J. (2014). Brain Structure and Functional Connectivity Associated With Pornography Consumption: The Brain on Porn. JAMA Psychiatry. Advance online publication.
https://dx.doi.org/10.1001/jamapsychiatry.2014.93

As often as not, the research paints a troubling picture. Alas! ye gods!
Such rage without betrays the fire within;
their fleshly half provokes their puritan,
so every time they secretly get off
self-indignation wells until they scoff.

Yeah. That snippet is something special.

With so much going on in the world right now that demeans women, the author's going to put childlessness at the top of the list? Give me a break.

R. S. Gwynn 10-27-2017 07:37 PM

The medium is the message, and now it's on the screen of your phone.

"Laptops and smartphones unlocked porn’s true isolating, masturbatory potential, something that a physical magazine—which had to be handled by someone who knew what you were reading, either a bookseller or a mailman—could never achieve."

It was very difficult to manage those fold-outs with a single hand.
