Way to go, Mark!

Huge Congrats, Mark! And well deserved.
|
Gail and Siham, thank you very much. It's exciting. I'm still not sure how it works haha. Is there one final winner or is it that one person from each journal gets in this anthology? Anyway, it's very nice!
|
Not every journal that nominates gets a winner. The nominations--open to lit mags and small presses...and contributing editors--are taken and judged and the winners are placed in a yearly anthology of the poetry and prose winners.
To be nominated is an honor, since every place only gets 6 total nominations (poetry and prose). To win is very difficult, but is great for you and the press, so they really only pick their best. Clifford Garstang does a yearly "Lit Mag Ranking" based on how many Pushcarts have been won (it goes back more than one year). |

Hi, thanks you two. I really need to get my po-biz on a bit more. Looking at that list, Andrew, the odds don't look great ha. Oh well, it cheers me up every time I read the email!
Thanks again all. |
Winning is often besides the point. Being nominated means that--aside from being published from amidst hundreds or thousands of submissions to that particular venue--the journal thought your piece was not only one of the six best things they got, but also something that can and should appeal to a wider audience.

Sorry to be late, but well done Mark! You deserve it.

Very nice!

Andrew S, Nicholas, Andrew M: thanks for the good wishes. It feels nice.
Cheers all. |
