Kate Bernadette Benedict has been publishing poems in literary magazines since 1980. She is the author of the full-length poetry collection Here from Away, which was Editor's Pick in The Philadelphia Inquirer. Hayden Carruth has praised the book's "breadth and freshness" and reviewer Sandy McKinney wrote: "A multi-varied talent shows through in both formal and free verse, but it is her rich approach to both language and life that makes these poems so engaging." Kate's background is in book publishing and finance and nowadays she edits the online journal Umbrella: A Journal of Poetry and Kindred Prose.

Anna Evans is a former President of the Burlington County Poets of New Jersey, and a member of the Quick and Dirty Poets. She is editor of The Barefoot Muse and The Raintown Review, and Contributing/Online Editor for the The Schuylkill Valley Journal. She has just been accredited by the New Jersey Artists in Education program to work with Children in Grades K-8. Her poems have appeared in journals including the Harvard Review, Rattle, the Atlanta Review, the Evansville Review and 32 Poems. Her poetry has been nominated three times for the Pushcart Prize, and she is a graduate of the Bennington College MFA Program. Her chapbooks Selected Sonnets and Swimming are available from Maverick Duck Press, (formerly Powerscore Press.)

This is now on our radar.

Usual disclaimer re my attendance: --...Good Lord willin' and the crick don't rise.

But I'm sure there will be a House o' Stalwarts.

Kate Bernadette Benedict & Anna Evans were both really inspirational.

The open mike was terrific, as usual -- a fascinating exchange, including (of Sphere folk -- hope I don't miss anyone): Nicholas F., Terese, Quincy, Nemo, Zita, Meredith Bergmann, Robert Donahue and me -- I might have forgotten someone.
It's a cool bar, with a separate, adjacent room with a stage and seating -- on Sunday afternoons, we take it over.

The next reading will actually be a book launch for Carolyn Raphael's new book, The Most Beaufiful Room in the World
on Sunday, Aprill 11th; usual time (5-7 p.m.).

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:54 PM.
