Sweet! How many people use a press conference to get attendees to recite a poem?

"It's not going to kill you. It's very short. I'll say a line, you repeat it, and we'll get through this together!"

Very cool stuff! Congrats!

Thanks,

Bill

I just listened to this pleasant and articluate interview. Congratulations on the appointment, David. I could identify strongly with your recitations of poetry from memory to sheep in the highlands of Scotland. All the best with your 64-county peregrinations.

Great interview, Dave. And I like to think of Colorado's dignitaries and press corps all joining together to recite "Western Wind". Enjoy the counties.

I had to point especially to the State troopers to get them to join in...The Governor was right on board, and recited some Thomas Hornsby Ferril to me from memory...Ferril, by the way, was the real deal...

Congratulations, David! I didn't realize you'd been given the appointment.

It's an outstanding interview, and food for thought for the few of us who have to assume a public posture. And I mean stand up, not bend over.

Andrew Frisardi 07-06-2010 11:59 PM

Well, I’ll have to imagine the interview and the poetry-reciting dignitaries until I can get to a place that has a high-speed internet connection. In the meantime, congratulations on the laureateship and the tour of your state, Dave. Let us know if any videos of your stops show up online.

Admirable goals. Good luck with bringing them to fruition.

Tim Murphy 07-07-2010 08:13 AM

Dave, I think Colorado should stump up 40k or so to get you an Audi A 4 Turbo. An old Subaru isn't going to make it to all those counties.
