Could someone tell me the difference between masculine and feminine endings as they relate to poetry? Many thanks.
(I can tell the difference in Hebrew most of the time, but in English... HELP!) ------------------ One person's opinion. Davida Chazan |
Davida, I think masculine rhyme is between single stressed syllables (fleece, release); feminine rhyme (double rhyme), matches two syllables, one stressed, one usually unstressed (singing, upbringing). The same is true for blank verse endings.
