Southern Comfort

A poem of mine, "Conception", is in the current issue (48:1) of Southern Poetry Review and another, "Amen", made it into the pages of the fall 2010 issue of Cold Mountain Review. I was thrilled about both of these publications and wanted to share the news (I almost didn't because I'm so terrible about congratulating others). This really helped me cope with all of my rejections. (My poems are under my middle name, Jude.)

Those are two great venues and you are in fine poetic company. Big, big congrats for both publications.

Edited in. I tried to subscribe to Cold Mountain Review because of their fine reputation and because I love mags I can hold in my hand and put on a shelf. But they only take checks and we haven't used checks over here for decades. I hope they will soon discover paypal or similar.

Tried also Southern Poetry Review for the same reason, and got nowhere. Their guidelines for subscribing are even more diffuse, but I assume they want checks as well.

Congrats, James.

Janice,

I haven't subscribed to either of them, but I intend to. I live in Taipei and usually I'd rely on good old ma to subscribe and then have her send them to me. But she's been on (extended) vacation in Florida and I thought I'd just wait until she gets home. I'll let you know what I find out.

Great news, James. Congratulations!

Terrific, James. The SPR is edited, I believe, right here in Savannah, but it's a tough venu to crack. Great placement.

Hey, Congrats dude! I mean, Jude...
I went looking on line to find the poems but no luck.
Best, Elle

Congratulations James (or Jude)! Look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks everyone -- it's nice to be able to share news like this with other poets. And, yes, Elle, they haven't updated their websites yet, but thanks for trying. As you probably know, on SPR's site, you can read the entire issue (on pdf, I think), which is very cool.

JB (James or Jude or Jim or even Jim Jude are all fine with me :))
