Thx Andrew, for posting this.

The Wikipedia article on her is also fascinating. It includes this quote from her:

"I didn't have time to be anyone's muse... I was too busy rebelling against my family and learning to be an artist." --Leonora Carrington, 1983

I quite like the paintings of hers I've seen online, although I don't recall seeing them for real. She also wrote novels. Quite a dynamo, she was.

And she was madly in love with Lytton Strachey. Women are an enigma, eh?

It IS the same Carrington, isn't it?

No, John, you're thinking of Dora Carrington (no relation, apparently).

Anhyway, while I'm here, I'll just put in a plug for Carrington, the delightful film about her (that is, Dora C's) life, with the ever-beautiful Emma Thompson as the title character, and Jonathan Pryce as a wonderfully EdwardLearish (how pleasant to know!) Lytton Strachey.
