Another 14

14 by 14 has been updated with a new set of sonnets, which will be the last this year. Fourteen different authors as usual, many of them Sphereans, also as usual. (Not that I'm here enough to be sure of the Sphericality status of all.)

Submissions remain closed until November at least. The editor needs to catch up on a heap of other stuff.

This is good news. A new 14 by 14. Hooray!

Get a good rest, Peter. And thanks for your service to po-world.

What Janice said, Peter. Thank you, and happy, productive hiatus.

Pat Jones, your graphics are astounding. Melville's eagle: the talon, the stone, and the whiff of violence -- perfect.

What Michael Ferris said. Pat Jones is the secret weapon in Peter's armory.

Hi, all--

Yeah, I'm bumping up a post that might bring a poem of MINE more attention, but that's not really my purpose. I'm just such a sucker for sonnets, and Peter does such a fine job of presenting them.

I hope it doesn't seem disrespectful to comment on parts of poems--poems which the poets have of course carefully crafted to be satisfying, whole entities--but this issue is teaching me how to . . .

--start a poem, as in the first line of Amanda Ferguson's "But Gone"
--end a poem, as in the last line of John MacLean's "Moment"
--break AND connect octave and sestet intriguingly, as in Ed's "Narcissus"

. . . among other things. And I haven't finished reading each sonnet once, much less the two or three or more times they deserve.

Thanks, Peter. (And thanks, Pat.)

Best,
Jean

I'll bounce it too! Thanks Peter. And Pat.

Thanks so much for your kind words. Peter and the poets in 14 by 14 are the real champions. I'm the one having fun responding to poems.

Today, working in the garden all day, putting it to bed, I thanked each one for the color of summer, told them I hoped, expected to see them again in spring. : ) I am wishing the same for Peter and 14 by 14... hoping Peter has a well-deserved hiatus and we'll all see him and 14 by 14 again next year. It is such a pleasure to work with him.

Thanks again, all, for your responses to my work in 14 by 14. I appreciate it....and please know I've loved every minute thinking about your poems and how to respond to them.

Pat

PS to Michael Ferris...I spent most of my life living on the Missouri and/or the Mississippi...and later the confluence of the two rivers...loved rising early on Saturday mornings to drive to the Great River Road to see the eagles diving...no bald eagles where I live now, alas, put plenty of ospreys to remind me of them.

Pat Jones and Peter Bloxsom are Internet Poetry International Living Treasures, and what they, together with the contributing authors, have done for SCR, The Chimaera and 14by14, and beyond, is simply astounding. The marriage of visual and textual in 14by14 is a credit to all involved. It lives!
