International Translation Day

Sept 30th is the feast day of St Jerome, patron of translators. We celebrate this occasion with an informal frolic in which members send me translated poems, and we try to guess who wrote what, and from what language, etc.

This year the moon has been proposed as a theme - ie. can we find enough poems featuring the moon to constitute a proper event?
If you feel like PMing me your thoughts on the subject (as quick as you can please) I'll be very interested to here from you.
If the moon-theme doesn't inspire, then we'll go themeless.

All the best
Adam

International Translation Day is go!

The theme is the moon. Chosen texts need only mention the moon in passing, but if you can't find a moon-citing poem in a language you know, we'll be happy to settle for something else that's equally nocturnal in atmosphere.

If you'd like to join in, please send me either one or two translations, plus the original(s) and literal crib(s)

either by PM or to aethelgar AT gmail DOT com

before the end of Weds 28th Sept (in your time zone).

I'll post all the translations anonymously for guessing.
Later I'll add the originals and cribs.
We can vote for best 3 if you like.

Looking forward to joining you to commemorate Patron Translator St Jerome. Happy writing!
