Bobby

I want to say a word about Bobby's book. A copy just arrived in the post and I've glimpsed my way through it.

One thing is clear. Bobby was writing a novel. The pieces he posted separately were not in their proper context. I found myself suffering and laughing and generally wanting better things to happen to all the characters. I find it genuinely moving and a terrific glimpse into another era.
Thank you Bobby for having the intestinal fortitude to keep going and to do it your way and for not inflating the language or being anything other than the survivor who was intelligent enough to pin the experiences of an open-spirited child onto the page.
