Frisardi in Poetry Daily
I received an email from Alex this morning, directing me to Andrew Frisardi's wonderful essay on La Vita Nova, and his translation from both the prose and verse of Dante's astonishing early work. I had already seen it in the new Able Muse, but this time I read it very carefully. Andrew's work as a translator from the Italian is, IMHO, among the most important work we do here at the Sphere. That's why, on one of Dick Wilbur's rare visits here, I had him comment on a sonnet Andrew translated from Dante. Dick's Italian is pretty good, and he warmly approved. Congratulations to Andrew, and I look forward to the book. http://poems.com/special_features/pr...y_frisardi.php

Thanks, Tim, I’m glad you liked the excerpt in AM. (There’s already a thread on this, by the way, just a few rungs down in this forum.)
This is as good a place as any to add that the book is available now for pre-order at Amazon. It costs $8 less this way—$24.95 is the regular price once the book is published in April. |
