Death of John Mella
 

I learned yesterday of the death of John Mella, the founding editor of Light Quarterly and author of many of their book reviews. He had recently turned 70 and died on the morning of April 16 following a rapid decline in health. The future of the journal is uncertain, due to funding issues, but the younger staff say they will put out at least one more issue (and one has just come out). Formal poetry, and especially light verse, has lost a great friend in John.
