New Statesman -- life-peer -- May 10 deadline
A win for Basil Ransome-Davies this week. Hon menshes for me and Brian Allgar (who is also Nicholas Holbrook, winner of the Tesco vouchers).
No 4226 Set by J Seery We want you to suggest a title for a newly ennobled life-peer. We also want the new peer’s reasons why he/she chose this name. Max 150 words by 10 May comp@newstatesman.co.uk |
I know a knighthood ain't the same as a peerage but I was put irresistibly in mind of the coat of arms and badge chosen by Christopher Frayling (former head of the Arts Council) when he was dubbed by Her Majesty:
http://www.college-of-arms.gov.uk/Frayling.htm As a champion of popular culture, he chose to reflect his predilection in his design. His motto translates as "Go ahead, punk - make my day". |
I love it, Ann.

I know - it's wonderful - and the two bendlets sinister (which denote the status of bastard) will, when combined with the owls, denote a clever bastard. Do you see how the addition of the billets to the bendlets makes them look like sprocket-holes in a roll of film?
And the dodo? Best not go there... |
