Light Verse Bake-off: Call for submissions

I’m thrilled to announce the Light Verse Bake-off, and even more thrilled to tell you that the Distinguished Guest for this fun event is our own wonderful Julie Kane.

(Julie broke her foot after the West Chester conference; I came back from it and was ill with flu for three weeks – so the two of us being a bit out of sorts has meant we’re a few days late kicking off with this. My apologies, everyone.)

Here’s what you do: submit your light verse poems to me, the Host for this bake-off, by emailing them to: lightversetojayne@gmail.com
You can do this any time from now until August 6th.

I will then forward the entries to Julie, minus names, and she will judge them, choosing a dozen which will be posted two at a time over six days.

Everyone will get the chance, from August 24th onwards, to comment on and subsequently vote for their favourite three light verse poems. Julie will then declare her favourites, with the reasons why she chose them.

If you have any queries, please feel free to send me a PM. I look forward to receiving amusing, witty, great poems from you. This will be lots of fun. There's no big prize at the end of it, but lots of kudos is up for grabs! :D

To answer the questions most likely to crop up:

You can submit up to four poems each.
Previously unpublished, please. Let's see some great new stuff - or give an airing to some great old stuff!

Jayne

PS. Because this announcement's late, any Qs by PM please, so we don't interrupt the Translation bake-off. Many thanks.
