Totally Non-Poetry Brag

For them of you what reads the New York Times, and follow pro football, I can't resist bragging that my wife Valori's baby grandson (I assume that makes him my step-grandson), New York Giants linebacker Mark Herzlich, is featured in today's Sports pages. (For those of you who critique some of my poems, or object to my crits, please keep in mind that Mark is 6'4", weighs 246 lbs, and is faster than you.)

I'm not able to get the NY Times, nor do I follow football, but it's nice news all the same, Michael. You and Valori must be feeling very proud.

(You honestly don't need to threaten us with a visit from Mark, though; you put the fear of god into most people quite easily without any help! :p)

Good to hear, Michael. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Best regards

Chris

He sounds a big handsome feller. My younger daughter, who is quite small, likes... no I don't think I'll go on. She doesn't care for sport much, come to think of it.

Mostly with Jayne, except, that I can't afford the NYT, and the only time someone tried to explain American football to me, I got a headache.

And I am TOTALLY unafraid of your crits, Michael, or big beefy footballers. I challenge you both!

Meanwhile, huge congrats. It's great when those you love do well, isn't it?

Fondly,
Charlotte

Jayne Osborn 11-02-2012 04:31 PM

Yeah, I forgot to say 'Fondly' like Charlotte.

But then, you know that I know you're just a pussycat at heart, Michael. (I'll continue 'dining out' for ages on the fact that you bought me a glass of champagne at WC.)

Affectionately, ;)
Jayne

[Charlotte, is the NYT really expensive, then?]

Charlotte Innes 11-02-2012 04:59 PM

Oh-ho, champagne, eh? Jayne, really!

Re the NYT. It probably isn't that expensive--just on my current income.

xox
(what does that mean?)

Now that's a BIG brag! Wonderful.

Rob Wright 11-02-2012 08:20 PM

Michael,

I always wondered what the source of you fearlessness was. And since your grandson has the toughest job on the toughest team, I'd say you and Valori have a lot to be proud of. And your crits? — keep them coming. Only your dinner conversation is sharper.

Looks like he's going to start tomorrow: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/fo...icle-1.1196074

The young man has quite an inspiring story. Let's hope he can help them beat the abhorrent Steelers! The Giants are heavy favorites... ;)

Thanks,

Bill
