Please, welcome your new Mastery forum moderator, our Moderatrix, A. E. Stallings!
And, a big thank you & good luck to Robert Mezey, our Master of Memory who's leaving to devote his attention to personal projects. For this & other exciting news go here Cheers, ...Alex |
Err.. Some rather big shoes to fill. Well, I'm delighted and honored to be mistressing the Mastery Forum for a spell. I have no doubt I'll learn as much as I impart. My field of literary expertise (or field of least ignorance, to be more exact), is actually dead Romans (Late Republic and Augustan), and, to a lesser extent, dead Greeks. I'm something of an autodidact when it comes to English lit--meaning that both what I've read, and what I haven't read, could raise eyebrows. I'm not as strong on the living and recently dead as I'd like to be. I have a soft spot for the late Victorians and the Georgian poets (and am a Housman fanatic, as will become evident soon enough). Well, enough of me... I suspect most of you already know all this!

Congrats, Pumpkin.
See you at Harry's? Beegy |
Well, Alicia, you've already proven critical acumen on the Met Board, so you should do fine here. Consider this a great big smile, rapidly growing archaic.

Alicia, delighted to hear that you're a
Housman fanatic; me too. It would be fun and maybe instructive to talk about a few of his masterly poems. |
I only wish I had written this verse by Wendy Cope:
I think I am in love with A. E. Housman Which puts me in a worse-than-usual fix. No woman ever stood a chance with Housman AND he's been dead since 1936. |
Robert, now don't be a stranger! Expecting to see you here.
Alicia, this looks like the place to be. Delighted something's going right for a change this week, Terese |
