Susan McLean, A. E. Stallings, and Alicia Cohen Reading at the Athens Centre
I don't assume that anyone from Eratosphere is likely to be in Athens, Greece, this Monday, Nov. 4, when Alicia Stallings, Alicia Cohen, and I will be given a poetry reading at the Athens Centre at 7:00 p.m., but I thought I would mention that it is happening and thank Alicia (Stallings) for arranging it. It's always worth publicizing these events because sometimes word does reach those who can attend.

It's a lovely venue and wonderful people. Please give my fondest regards to Rosemary, Olympia, Katja, Maria and not least Alicia.
Oh, I do wish I could be there. You will love your audience, Susan, and they will love you back! |
Sounds wonderful!
Rock the room, you three! |
How did it go?

The reading went very well. It started a bit late, which I was told is standard in Greece, and there was a good audience (I would estimate around twenty or more) in a room that was an appropriate size for the group. We each read for about twenty minutes, starting with Alicia Cohen, who writes free verse, and ending with Alicia Stallings, who read a number of new poems I had not heard before. The audience was attentive and receptive, and there was a wine and snacks reception in the courtyard afterwards. It was a lovely warm evening. After that, six of us, including all three readers and spouses/partners, went out to a nearby taverna and had a delightful assortment of small dishes, with wine. I think all of us were pleased with the way it went.
