Some (semi-) happy news (to quote the email). "Refinishing Weather," which was workshopped here back in the day, is a runner-up for the Morton Marr prize -- no $, no publication, but a mention and a free copy of the Southwest Review (suitable for framing!) (quoting from the email again, sorry).

I remember that one--an excellent poem, Frank, AND the runner-up cred will be a nice addition to your bio. Congratulations.

A credit related to the Southwest Review is certainly a feather in your cap. It has been around for a long time, I love these old-times print journals that encapsulate and document so much poetry history.

Good going.

SW Review is one of the better print journals, I think. The editor, Willard Spiegelman, has a good eye and ear for fresh work. Congrats, Frank, for the notice on your poem.

Congratulations, Frank. Even to be a runner-up in that contest is quite a feat.

Gaak - it's an honorable mention - not sure whether that merits my terming it 'a runner-up' or not. Didn't strike me funny until I reread the e-mail, and I don't want to overstate the case.

Thanks for the thanks, all.

Frank

[Editing in, in case anyone is as clueless as I was - I've been told one may refer to an honorable mention as a runner-up]
