A copy of A.M. Juster's The Satires of Horace just landed on my desk, fresh from the Univ. of Pennsylvania Press. A pretty book and, of course, a great translation.

If you've missed these satires, you can read one online here .

Congratulations to Mike on this great achievement!

I must get this, or, since Christmas is coming, get somebody else to get it for me. What about the Odes, eh? James Michie is not bad at all, but still...

I've been long looking forward to seeing this book, ever since Mike started posting passages on the Translation board. Thanks for letting us know, Jody.

John, there's an excellent translation of the Odes by Len Krisak, published by Carcanet. Here's a review of it.

Len's new odes blow the doors off their predecessors, except Housman's Diffugere Nives, of course. It is a fabulous book which I mean to review.
