Hard Times, 10" x 8", oil

This is good Wes. I like the subject and your use of the medium. I especially like the highlights. I only have one problem with it and that is the title. Maybe you could choose something that would not point us in the direction that this one does and will let us feel this for ourselves (which I think the painting allows) Maybe, Outside the 7-11 or On the Corner of 5th and Main, or something like that.

I like this too. The crumpled face under the two big hoods is very dramatic. The painting's quite small, I notice. I feel it's a bit hazy, kind of monotone. May be a good atmospheric effect. Interesting texture as well. But Cyn beat me to the punch on that title. I like paintings with little or no information.

Thank you. And, you're both right, the title is telling, not showing (or allowing the painting to do so).

I do hate titling my paintings; It's difficult to come up with something new. I like your suggestion, Cyn, of Fifth and Main, and might use something along those lines.
