John Whitworth in The Hudson Review
You know how it is. You ai for ages for a bus and then three come at once. I was having a rather arid time of it, then in very quick succession I got three poems in Quadrant (Bless Les Murray) one in the Speccie FRONT half last week, one in the BACK half this week and an acceptance from The Hudson Review of a nice long poem. I've forgotten. Do they pay?

Congratulations, John. The Hudson Review is lucky to have you, IMHO, as are the rest.

Warmest and hearty congrats, John.

Congratulations, John! The Hudson Review is huge as far as I'm concerned. As Ed said, they got lucky, because your talent is even huger. Don't tell me even you have to wait for the bus!

Good for you, John.

Excellent, John - that's a special placement. Would you mind indicating how long it took before you heard from them. I've stopped submitting because (a) they used to take 6 months or more to respond, and (b) they never liked my stuff. If I thought that the rejections were at least coming more quickly, I'd try again.

Congrats, John.

John! What an honor. Good to see you there. I love it when they publish people whose work I admire.

Michael, it took quite a long time. Six months? At least.
Thank you all for your congratulations. I really do do better in Australia and the United States. Much British Poetry is in the grip of... well, something not altogether nice. |
