Sam Gwynn at Synesthesia

I own and have read the Fish book in question, and laughed my posterior off when I read the Synesthesia pp. 16-19.

I used to really regret that I wasn't a university teacher. No more.

Thanks Mr. Gwynn. You made my day.

Added in: I can't remember who wrote the text that triggered this essay and its title (Meyer Abrams?) though while looking for something else, I re-read it when I ran across it not so long ago. Maybe Sam can jolt my memory. It isn't necessary to have in mind either text or both, but it does heighten the enjoyment.

I read this somewhere before, not sure where. Unless it was read aloud by Sam or someone else, and I still think it should go into a time capsule about early 21st C. academia. It doesn't get old though!

Sweet delight, Sam, and congrats!

"Is being prostrated here" and "As Mallarme himself became prostrated" are classic, especially for anyone who has ever come into contact with prostrations.

Thanks for posting, Janice.

Whither English?

A total riot. The course titles alone are hilarious. Thanks for the link, Janice, and the fun, Sam.

Thanks, all. I haven't seen it yet.

It's good for me to read something like this from time to time to reassure myself that I would have been just as awkward a fit in academia as I was in business. Nice, Sam. And I've also read or heard this before. Could you have read it at West Chester?

I really enjoyed your story, Sam.
