For my female formalist friends
Outside of the Able Muse, Wilbur, Hecht & New Criterion book competitions, the odds are stacked against most of us most of the time. Once in a while, however, one of our number slips pasts the guards and gives us an opportunity to infiltrate.
Our Alicia Stallings is judging this year's "A Room of Her Own Foundation" prize for the best book submitted by a woman for publication by a fine independent press called Red Hen Press. The entry fee--$20--is a little lower than the norm and the prize is $1,000 for "promotional and travel expenses," which I would imagine would cover travel expenses to Aruba to recover from the exhaustion caused by the promotional activities. In any case, I have no connection with these outfits--just admiration for Alicia, and thought some of you might want to go to: www.aroho.org, although they seem to have made a hash out of their efforts to provide information (which, on the bright side, might thin out competition!). |
That link didn't work for me, but I googled forth this one.
