Melissa Balmain in American Life in Poetry

I subscribe to Kooser's weekly American Life in Poetry column, and this week's pick is "Love Poem" by Melissa Balmain, from her book Walking in on People (published by Able Muse Press). Here's the link. Congrats, Melissa!

A great honor and a great way to spread the word about a poet whose poetry people should be reading.

Hooray, I am delighted for Melissa to get this recognition!

That is such a lovely poem, one of my favorites from the book, which is one of my favorite books -- a tuneful, spritely whistle, often as not in the dark. Congrats, Melissa.

Best,

Ed

Congratulations, Melissa. That was one of the poems I included in my recent "Funny Women" reading of works by Melissa, Gail White, and Julie Kane. It was a crowd pleaser.

Thanks so much, friends. It's really a nice boost to appear in ALP. As I posted on Facebook, I'm seizing the opportunity to dedicate that poem to my parents, who narrowly missed celebrating their 53rd anniversary last month. Any wisdom I may possess about married love is largely borrowed from them.

Delightful poem! Have just sold a house after making all kinds of improvements for the buyer's benefit, but no regrets this time.
