Women troubadours on the Mezzo Cammin Women Poets Timeline
There's a new article just posted on the Mezzo Cammin Women Poets Timeline: my piece on the Countess of Dia and a few of the other women troubadours. Check it out here.

Thanks for this, Maryann! A fascinating and little-known part of poetic history, which is actually important on a larger scale, considering the value of social relationships to everything else, and how poetry expresses them. And a welcome relief from the more dire news of the day.

Thanks, Siham. It can feel escapist to spend time on history when the news is dire, but I keep hoping that relating the history of women in poetry will have lasting value.
Full disclosure: Trying to research women who left so meager a paper trail drove me to write some silly pseudo-double-dactyls. |
"[M]aking it up" as you go! Ha Ha.
Some pretty funny pseudo double dactyls, at that. Congratulations on another stunning piece of scholarship, Maryann. I remember this essay well from last year's Timeline Seminar. Fascinating subject. |
