This is funny as hell - love every word of it - but you do realize it's satire? Check the original article, and the source.

You know, I didn't check the source. And these days this seems almost possible. But, yeah, it's over the top. I couldn't stop laughing.
|
Hilarious!
Well, I think McDonald's shouldn't be so American. Why don't they sell pasta? And seafood? And Chinese food? :D |
The choices at the McDonald's here (right around the corner-- a horrible convenience) aren't that much different (I think there's a shrimp cake burger...). Years ago, I went to a Gerald Stern poetry reading where he began by boasting that he'd never had a McDonald's hamburger. Depending on where you live, of course, that is an achievement.

I have observed, from my telly-watching, that Americans seem to consume most of their food standing up out in the street.
|
Actually, they do a lot of that here, John. Night markets are very popular-- and good and cheap. Lot of street vendors etc. When I first got here I was afraid of them. They've got this stinky tofu in the air (cho-tofu). It's fermented and it smells exactly like the liquid that spills from a garbage truck. I (slowly) got over it tho. Even tried it. Once.
|
But I am English enough to like my bum on a seat, even if it is only a Park bench, when consuming fish and chipsor pork pies.
As for real food... a restaurant and three hours to spend. |
