Venue for Haiku, etc. Submit now!

Hi Folks--

I've learned that an upcoming issue of Poetry Quarterly, to be guest-edited by Jodie Hollander, is open to submissions for one more week--and also that Jodie and her team might be especially interested in including a haiku or two. Alas, my haiku cupboard is bare. Yours? Other kinds of poems are still welcome, too, but you must act quickly.

If you'd like to submit, use this website:

Thanks for posting the link, Simon. Just a heads-up about how welcome those other kinds of poems might be. This is from the journal's submission guidelines: "We consider all forms of poetry, but we shy away from rhyme."

Perhaps the guest editor does not share that outlook, but . . . .

I can't speak for her, but I do know that Jodie Hollander is mostly a free verse poet herself but admires formal poetry and writes it sometimes. There are at least some rhyming poems in the guest-edited issue. But, yes, the prevailing standards of the journal include a bias against rhyme. Thanks for adding that information.
