Michael Juster translation in Poetry
Mike Juster is full of surprises! Here he is in Poetry magazine with East African proverbs (anonymous), translated from the Oromo (previously known as Galla, which is a language I've heard of, though it's now said to be a pejorative term):

Thanks everyone! I've been off the grid for five days & it was a great joy to come back & find these proverbs in print.
They are probably good evidence for patience. I worked intermittently on them for twenty years. |
