A Great Story
I taught Kai as a sophomore. She is one of my favorite students ever, and one of the kindest and most thoughtful people out there. No surprise, she has an indomitable will and a strong sense of justice, and she's not afraid to be vocal about it.

Forgiveness and hope in impossible circumstances is remarkable, Andrew. I really mean admirable. And your student, too ... pretty moving.

Found poetry:
I guess I was bleeding. I felt like I was floating. I was crying for mom. What you done to me was wrong but I still forgive him. I vaguely remember this when it happened. One of the tragedies of a gun culture (He was just trying to scare a couple of girls he knew. Who knew?) As teachers it is our privilege to also be taught as we teach. Indeed a great story. She will join the legion of young people who have witnessed first hand the failings of our generation and fight to fix them. Bravo to all of them. |
Thank you for sharing this story of courage, it is indeed encouraging. What Jim said so in tune, I cannot help but like the sound:
