Call for John Whitworth Tribute Poems
In our September issue, Better Than Starbucks will include a special section as a tribute to beloved poet John Whitworth. The section will be curated by guest editor Jayne Osborn.
We invite those familiar with John’s poetry to submit a tribute poem, whether to John, in memory of him, or written in a style of his. Submit your poem in the body of your email, together with a short third person bio (we usually ask for 30 – max 40 – words) with ‘John Whitworth poem’ in the subject line. Poems alone will be copied into a blind submissions document and forwarded to Jayne. Email your submission to betterthanstarbucks2@gmail.com Submissions are open until August 1st, 2019. There is no fee to submit (as always.) There is no contributor payment, although all our contributors receive their choice of a free PDF or eBook version. Also as always, we accept previously published work. Poets whose tribute poems are chosen by Jayne for publication will also receive a print copy of the issue, so please include your mailing address with an associated phone number in your submission. Thank you, Jayne, for agreeing to select winners from poems submitted, as well as a poem or three of John’s to include on the tribute page. Your contribution to our journal is very welcome. Thank you for doing this, Vera.
I'm sure John's fans will be delighted to take up the challenge, and I will be equally delighted to see all the submissions. John would have been chuffed to bits, as we Brits say :) Cheers, Jayne |

Bumping this, as a final reminder.
I hope I'll be receiving lots of poems... but if you haven't sent one in to Vera yet, it's not too late! You've still got a couple of days to dash off your entry to betterthanstarbucks2@gmail.com This is a lovely way to remember our friend John. Thanks in anticipation, everyone. Jayne |
...There's still time, folks! :)
