Reflections on a Fib
If you begin with a fib there is no choice but to chase the hump-backed, spiral path that wayward words have led you into since creation. I’ve heard of ways to stumble back, one hand on a wall, unbuild, unwind, undo, retract – my way is to shrug – make a joke and let things lie. |
I hope that Prince Harry and Megan's son always tells them the truth. Otherwise, thay'll have to start calling him "Fibbin' Archie".
|
I like backspin of yours, Michael!
Brian, I take the nod to British pronunciation: "ahhhchie" |
Ralph, no other pronunciation could possibly be acceptable for the grandson of the King of England!
|
Is there an alternative way of pronouncing Archie, then?

I believe Ralph was referring to the Americans' pronunciation of the name of the actual mathematician - "Fibba Natchie".

Ah, thanks for the enlightenment, Brian and Annie.
I've always pronounced it like this but my husband says it more like the US "natchie"; he reckons it's somewhere in between "atchi" and "archi", so we're all correct... sort of! :D Jayne |
