"Shirts of the Distant Past" at Rattle
I thought I'd share "Shirts of the Distant Past," a song/poem posted yesterday at Rattle. (It's in the print issue, too, in the "Musicians" feature.)
You can follow the lyric along with the audio if you like, or just read without listening. It's kind of a wistful novelty number. Thanks! https://www.rattle.com/shirts-of-the...-by-ned-balbo/ (FYI Able Musers Wendy Videlock and Richard Newman have work in the same issue--Wendy in the "Open Poetry" section and Richard in the "Musicians" feature. Editor Tim Green will be posting selections most days from now through December. |
Ever outstanding, Ned. I shared it on my social media, as did New Verse Review, who gave it a rave. Congratulations are in order, all around.

This is so fluid and haunting (to a degree) a reverie — excellent! The music is excellent too. The whispered refrain of the title is a beautiful touch. It made my day — and it's only just past noon! Thank you! . |
Jim, thank you for your post! It's past noon for me (three hours past), but you just made my day.
