Spherian and Powow member Stephen Scaer, and fellow New Hampshire poet Gordon Lang, are featured at the Powow River Poets January 16 reading in Newburyport, MA. The reading starts at 7:30 PM at the Newburyport Art Association Gallery at 65 Water Street in Newburyport, www.newburyportart.org and is followed by an Open Mike.

Stephen Scaer is a two-time Howard Nemerov Sonnet Award finalist, winner of the 2005 New England Shakespeare Festival sonnet competition, and was awarded first place in the Iambs & Trochees 2004 Poetry Contest. His poems have been published in First Things, Chimaera, The Formalist, Blue Unicorn, Light Quarterly, Measure and other literary journals.

Gordon Lang divides his time between teaching high school English and journalism, writing short fiction and poetry, and breeding Gypsy horses. He has been a featured reader at numerous sites in New Hampshire and Maine, and on the weekly Portsmouth-based radio show, Writers in the Round.

I should note that Stephen, along with Melissa Balmain, is one of the stars of his generation in light verse so go expecting to have a good time as well as an enlightening time.

And Ms. Balmain herself will be appearing on the main stage at Powow on July 16. Mark the date, folks, and thanks, Mike, for the segue.
